About me
Hello and welcome! My name is Ben and I'm a passionate web developer. My love for web development began when I started tinkering with HTML and CSS after one of my friends recommended it to me. I have spent many hours training and learning all about web development and I am excited to continue to grow and learn more. I have experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Node.js. I currently am UI/UX Developer at Certus. I am currently learning Golang and Rust, and looking at how I can write apps that scale and are secure.
I believe that user experience is at the heart of every great website, and that's why I'm always striving to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces. I'm particularly interested in responsive web design and accessibility, as I believe that every website should be accessible to everyone. I'm a team player and I enjoy working collaboratively with clients, designers, and other developers to bring ideas to life. I take pride in my ability to communicate effectively, and I'm always open to feedback and constructive criticism.
When I'm not coding, you can find me at Walt Disney World with my wife Joanna, playing fighting games like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear, or travelling to new cities. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me, and feel free to explore my portfolio to see some of my work!
What I'm working on
-
Build Go Apps that scale on AWS
I'm currently working on building a Go app that can scale on AWS. I'm using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB to build a serverless app that can handle a large number of requests. I'm also using Go's concurrency features to make the app as fast and efficient as possible. This is through a course that's offered via FrontEndMasters.

Accessibility Upgrades to Certus Pages
I'm currently working on helping to update and upgrade Certus' pages to be more accessible. This includes adding alt text to images, improving keyboard navigation, and ensuring that all interactive elements are focusable. I'm also working on improving the color contrast and readability of the pages to make them easier to use for all users.
